Most fields on this tab are self-explanatory, but some clarifications are provided below:

Well information

This data is used to identify the well.

Well location

Well Location data is collected for information and selection of wells in database queries only.

WellRep is not intended to be used as a wellbore positioning tool (such as Landmark Compass).  Wellplan and survey data are stored for information only and are used to analyze BHA behavior and select wells in database queries.

Well dates

The data under Well Dates should be consistently input in accordance with some conventions.  The explanations below are provided as guidance.  The conventions may vary by company, and may be freely chosen, but should remain consistent across all well in the database.

[Well start]

The date and time at which the drilling rig came on contract for the well.  For offshore wells this is often the time at which the rig exited the 500m zone of the previous well (i.e. under tow).

[Spud date]

Date and time the well was spudded.  Typically this is chosen as the time when the first bit drilled the first formation (e.g. tag seabed when cleaning out a driven conductor) or the time the first bit exited the conductor.

[TD date]

Date and time Total Depth for the well was reached. Typically the end time of the Daily Operations for drilling to this depth.

[Well end]

The date and time at which the drilling rig went off contract for the well.  For offshore wells this is often the time at which the rig was under tow and exited the 500m zone.
