Mud and formations

Similar to the BHA run summary data, mud and formations summary is calculated from the daily report and wellpath data.

Based on Depth In and Depth Out, relevant mud records are selected from the Daily Report data and formations drilled are retrieved from the Formation data on the wellpath.  If a formation Top MD was before the BHA Depth In, this will be adjusted accordingly.  The TVD data for the formation top and bottom is, similar the wellpath data, calculated from the survey data on the wellpath form.

The last three (calculated) columns display how much (by TVD, MD and percentage of the run length) was drilled in that formation, providing a means to determine how relevant that formation was for the BHA’s (directional) behavior.

Similar to the BHA run summary data, both summary sections may be locked for manual input.

When printing a BHA Pick Up report, BHA weight and Weight Below Jar are calculated according the to the minimum and maximum inclination and mud weight for the BHA.  When picking up a BHA this data likely not be calculated as Depth In and Depth Out are not yet calculated for the BHA because there are no Daily Activities for that BHA.  In this case, lock the Surveys and Mud Data sections, input a minimum and maximum inclination and create two mud records (one for minimum and one for maximum mud weight).  Save the BHA and then print the report.  As soon as data becomes available, unlock the data sections so that they will be calculated correctly.
