Tool hours

Softdrill NL

From the Equipment Inventory on the Well form, it can be quickly determined how many hours (drilling, circulating and reaming) have been accumulated on a specific tool.  This can be useful to determine which tool to pick up when designing a new bottom hole assembly.

Select a tool in the inventory and click the Tool Hours button  in the tool bar.

This function is only available if a single tool is selected in the inventory grid view.  If multiple (or no) tools are selected, the function is disabled.

This will bring up the following dialog box:

Tool data

This section provides details on the currently selected tool in the inventory (for which the hours are shown).

Run data

This grid view displays the BHA's in which the tool was run and how many hours were accumulated for each run.  The total hours on the tool are shown in the grid footer.

Note that the hours for each run (and subsequently the total hours) are calculated from the daily activities.  For these hours to be correctly calculated, the daily activities must be correctly coded and labeled with a BHA reference.  For if a BHA is still in hole, the hours will be current for the activities input so far.

Calculate BHA's

If in doubt whether all daily activities and BHA runs were correctly calculated, use this button to (re-)calculate the BHA's shown in the Run Data grid.
